What Is a Vehicle Inspection?

Vehicle inspection is a peace of mind style service where a thorough multi-point review of the vehicle is performed. Completed with a printed lengthy report with photos chronicling the overall condition of the vehicle.

When might I employ such a service?

There’s really never a bad time to know the overall condition of your vehicle; however customers find the service most useful prior to a sale/purchase of a vehicle or prior to undertaking a trip. Many also contact us in regards to being unsure of what to do with a vehicle in their possession i.e. they inherited the vehicle and are curious if it is worth saving or should they sell. Countless others contact us before gifting vehicles to say their children.

What does this inspection include?

A thorough 172 point analysis of the vehicle is undertaken where various systems are monitored for proper operation. Including but not limited to brakes, steering, hvac, suspension, engine, transmission, scanning for history codes. The vehicle will be driven then lifted to see if various components are operating within parameters or if attention is required.

How long will the inspection take?

The length of time varies depending on the extent of the vehicle's condition. It therefore is suggested that vehicles are dropped off

Will this service help determine a vehicles value?

Absolutely. The inspector will consider the results of his findings against local or national market conditions and what would be a fair trade in price vs private party price. Should you deem it in a sell condition we will show you where you might obtain max value for the vehicle privately i.e. where there might be enthusiast buyers local or abroad.

Can I see a sample Report?

Certainly Sample Report.

In what ways are these inspections different then my state vehicle inspections?

The states inspections are rather limited. They are nowhere near as thorough. Inspecting for rust or accident repair, the condition of interior components or operational standings of items such as power windows, door locks, or handles and the functionality of safety systems such as airbags, tpms, traction control or abs or onstar style monitors are NOT PART OF STATE INSPECTIONS. Further emissions inspections through the state are a plug and scan type deal it is plausible that deceptive sellers have circumnavigated various legal repairs with illegal methods to achieve a quick pass - do you want to be financially responsible for replacing a bypassed catalytic converter?

State inspections don't include the use of boroscopes for checking items such as interior frame rust WE DO. Missouri inspection does not include looking for fluid seepage of engine, transmission, cooling systems, a/c refrigerant, transfer case fluid or differential cover leaks WE DO.

State inspections do not cover proper operation of air conditioning or interior lighting WE DO.

State inspections do not ensure proper operation of applecarplay, navigation systems, tpms systems, or usb or similar ports WE DO.

State inspections do not ensure a vehicle has a proper spare tire and tool kit WE DO.

As individuals who have worked on vehicles for decades in auto repair we know the tricks others like to implement to pawn off a vehicle for quick sale. State inspections do not include inspecting for proper body repair WE DO.

Why should I use Attentive Auto inspections over a Dealer?

I am a completely independent evaluator. I have no vested interest in whether or not you purchase the vehicle - Beyond purchasing my inspection I'm not trying to make a sale. My reports are thorough, blunt and to the point. As an individual who has worked on vehicles for decades in auto repair I know the tricks others like to implement to pawn off a vehicle for quick sale. Further as a mechanic for decades working on vehicles of ALL MAKES AND MODELS I have industry knowledge of repeat pattern failures for given vehicles and if proper preventative measures have been undertaken to reduce or solve such failures.

A dealer isn't going to tell you a vehicle is prone to catastrophic engine, transmission or electrical etc failure.

A dealer is going to try to obtain max dollar for a sale-I can tell you if such asking price is realistic or a good value.

A dealer isn't going to show you evidence of collision damage.

A dealer isn't going to show you shoddy or improper repairs.

A dealer only wanting a quick sale isn't going to provide realistic repair estimates.

A dealer isn't going to want to answer a bunch a questions that could negatively impact the sale. I WELCOME ALL QUESTIONS. I want to hear them. I want you to have a peace of mind in the purchase of your new vehicle.
