Vehicle Inspection Report
Summary of Findings

The 2018 Ford Explorer is in overall quite good condition. Outside, apart from minor nicks and dings I find zero evidence of any major collision damage. The left front fender contains a slight ding while the front and rear bumpers have been “touched up” in various places with factory matching paint. Inside the vehicle I encountered a tear on the left side middle row passenger seat. The lights both inside and out are all operative; the lenses are intact and free of moisture. The horn, power seats, wipers, radio and mirrors all operate as designed. There exists a tear in the rear wiper blade but this does not violate Missouri Vehicle Safety Standards. All seatbelts and buckles latch securely . Under the hood it appears that adequate care has been performed during its lifetime; the oil, coolant and brake fluid appeared clear of contaminants. The engine filter appeared clean and free of tearing. The battery measured 12.45 Volts unloaded and appears in sound order. The suspension components appear in proper operating condition, the struts are leak free while the control arms and ball joints all demonstrate acceptable levels of play as outlined by Missouri Safety inspection standards. Underneath the vehicle the factory equipped splash shield is missing. I could not see any cause for concern regarding major leaks and underneath appeared relatively dry and free of rust and corrosion. Regarding tires and wheels, the LF tire appeared to be wearing slightly quicker than the other three tires; the tire tread measured as follows (LF 4/32” RF 6/32” LR 6/32” RR 6/32”). I could not find any reason for accelerated wear of the LF tire. The tires are all of matching design. The rims, apart from minor scuffs, are in good shape. The front brake pads measured 6mm” (good life left) while the rear pads measured 3mm (near end of life).
A scanning of the vehicles on board computer indicates that it is unlikely foul play has occurred (ie a quick clearing of the codes to conceal underlying issues) and all monitors are complete. I did retrieve one soft code of a p0219 [engine over speed]; however, given its last occurrence it appears to be attributable to a isolated incident (last occured 36225:48:20 hours ago). At some point a window tint was added to the vehicle. The tint looks in rather good condition; however, I did notice the passenger front window tint had minor bubbling emerging. A test ride of the vehicle was performed and the vehicle appeared to shift normally without pronounced road noise or vibration. The brakes applied smoothly. The A/C compressor could be felt engaging and a decrease in temperature was evident when engaged. Further the front and rear A/C controls operated independently as designed for individual control.
As of this inspection and writing I maintain a positive opinion of the overall condition of this vehicle. With market trends and Kelly Blue Book guidelines I foresee a reasonable private party value between $25,000.00 and $30,000.00. As with all appreciations, an exact dollar amount is hard to define. The issues I encountered on inspection appear minimal. I would consider replacing the rear brakes (pads/rotors) upon purchase and consider tire replacement depending on stylistic driving conditions of the driver further in the near future. A replacement splash shield, repair or replacement of the torn middle seat and detailing of the interior would further only add to the value of the vehicle.
Price estimate for the rear pads and rotors installed $300.00-450.00 Price variance dependent on current brake package equipped on vehicle ie rotor size and styling aka heavy duty vented or standard duty solid rotors.
A replacement splash shield I am unfortunately having difficulty sourcing a cheap replacement thus far I have only been able to find dealer parts and it starts at $105.00 before shipping.
Replacement tire price varies tremendously depending on preference. As a rule of thumb I tell others to budget roughly $600- $1200.00. Tirerack.com tends to offer a great source to ballpark price estimates.
Detailing of the interior I estimate $80-120.00 depending on options elected.
I want to again express exercising caution when purchasing vehicles still under lein. Documentation of everything will be your only friend should any scam occur.
That all said, I wish you luck on your new vehicle purchase journey.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask. I am out to build relationships. On a personal note NAME REDACTED, I truly want to thank you for your business. You were a joy to work with.

The left front tire is currently wearing faster than others, the wear of this tire appears uniform across the tire tread width, further the steering components appear tight and free of bends from accidents. I therefore believe that the most likely reason for this singular accelerated tire wear is due to this tire being slightly of lesser quality than the others-rather than having anything to do with alignment. 4/32" tire wear is generally considered nearing replacement stage. The other 3 tires are at 6/32" are considered nearing half life.
The front brake pads are at 6mm which is considered good life left while the rear are at 3mm which is considered replacement stage.
Should this vehicle be purchased I would suggest replacing the rear pads and rotors due to wear. I suggest replacing the rotors in addition to the pads due to scoring-neglecting replacing the rotors at time of pad replacement will likely result in vibrations when braking and noise.

Code Scan click to expand
A scanning of the vehicles on board computer revealed a soft code of a p0219 engine overspeed condition. The freeze frame data revealed that this code originally surfaced 36225:48:20 hours ago. Taking into consideration the lengthy time in which the code appeared and the fact that the check engine light has not illuminated and all monitors have completed their self checks I believe this to be a rather isolated incident-little cause for concern.
In addition to revealing potentially troublesome issues, the code scan is able to provide a peace of mind by searching for monitor completion. Had the monitors not completed their self checks it would indicate that likely foul play is occurring on the part of the seller ie a quick reset of the computer to conceal a check engine light. Since the monitors have completed it is unlikely such deception has occurred.
